West Highland Chamber opens doors for small Scottish businesses to explore global markets

2026 Trade Mission to Nova Scotia announced – open to all Scottish SME’s

Small and medium-sized businesses across Scotland are invited to participate in a prestigious Trade Mission to Nova Scotia, Canada, from Sunday, 22 March to Wednesday, 25 March 2026, organised by the West Highland Chamber of Commerce.

The packed visit is designed to help smaller businesses take their first steps into international trade, offering full support, introductions, and guidance along the way.

Unlike many trade initiatives, you don’t need to be a Chamber of Commerce member or an experienced exporter to take part. This fantastic opportunity is open to any small or medium-sized Scottish business with an interest in growing its network and exploring new ideas, partnerships or markets overseas.

Making Global Trade Accessible

Frazer Coupland, CEO of the West Highland Chamber of Commerce, said: “This mission is designed especially for small businesses who might never have thought global trade was for them.  We’ll take care of the planning, open the right doors, and make it easy to explore what international growth could look like for your business.”

 What’s Included:

  • Pre-arranged business meetings with trusted Canadian contacts
  • Networking events and local briefings to understand the Nova Scotia market
  • On-the-ground support from the West Highland Chamber and Scottish Government partners
  • Opportunities across key sectors, including (but not limited to) food and drink, tourism, renewable energy, tech, and the creative industries

Trade mission delegates will cover their own travel, accommodation, and a £450 registration fee that includes all business meetings, networking events, and logistical support.

The trade mission to Nova Scotia is supported by the Scottish Government and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce to assist participants in making the most of Scotland’s strong cultural and business links with Canada.

Since the launch of the International Trade Partnership Programme in 2019, the Scottish Chambers network has delivered over 115 trade missions with 1200 businesses participating, and more than £90 million of sales in the pipeline generated from the trade networks.

Why Take the Leap?

Past participants on West Highland Chamber trade missions say the experience gave them new confidence, customers and connections:

“We came home with contacts and insights we couldn’t have found on our own.” – Raven Botanicals

“The trip turned into ‘Team Scotland’ – we supported each other and came back stronger.” – 126 Water
