Outdoor Capital Activities and Attractions Expo open for tourism business

Frazer Coupland, CEO of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, said: “Let’s work together to help our visitors do more, stay longer, come back again and recommend Lochaber to others!”

Lochaber Chamber of Commerce are set to bring the region’s tourism sector together at the Outdoor Capital of the UK Activities and Attractions Expo at the Nevis Centre, Fort William, on Monday 23 March 2020.  This free drop-in exhibition and networking event is primarily targeted at those in the hospitality and accommodation sector keen to keep themselves informed as to new, existing and evolving activities, attractions and events on offer for their visitors across Lochaber, as the 2020 visitor season picks up pace.

The Outdoor Capital of the UK Activities and Attractions Expo will provide the perfect opportunity for local tourism businesses to meet and develop working relationships with a wide range of activity and visitor attraction providers from throughout Lochaber. Attendees can drop in any time from 13:00 – 19:00 to chat, make connections and get clued up with all the fantastic activities their visitors can immerse themselves in and attractions they can visit while staying in the area.

Frazer Coupland, CEO of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, believes this joined-up approach is a vital part of helping local tourism businesses prosper.  He said: “We want to make it simple and fun for everyone in local tourism to make connections and work together to encourage visitors to do more, stay longer and come back again.”

As part of its role as the hub of Lochaber business, Lochaber Chamber of Commerce also acts as the destination management organisation for Lochaber, promoting the area under the well-established ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’ brand.

Frazer Coupland added: ‘‘We’re so lucky to have an amazing destination with such a huge range of activities and attractions for our visitors.

“Things change fast in tourism: new activities open, existing activities evolve and providers expand their services. Keeping up to date with what’s on offer is a fantastic way to enhance our visitors’ stay, but it’s not always that easy to keep on top of things. This Expo is a one-stop-shop to make sure that we all know as much as possible about what we can offer our visitors as we head into another great visitor season.”

Delegates at the Expo will also have the opportunity to find out how the innovative new marketing and events programme ‘West Coast Waters’ can help them promote and enhance their business during the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020.  West Coast Waters and HIE will be providing informative business briefings throughout the day on making the most of the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020.
