OCUK unveil their new branded gondola at Nevis Range

The Outdoor Capital of the UK, Lochaber Chamber of Commerce’s tourism brand, has just unveiled its new custom wrapped gondola at Nevis Range Mountain Experience, Fort William.

The branded gondola has been unveiled alongside the launch of The Outdoor Capital of the UK’s most recent digital marketing campaign, “Connect to your Adventure” which utilises the #myoutdoorcapital hashtag.

The hashtag is being promoted on the sides of the gondola to encourage visitors to Nevis Range to share the highlights of their holiday in Fort William and Lochaber, The Outdoor Capital of the UK, on social media channels using photos and short video. And by sharing their experiences using the hashtag #myoutdoorcapital they are automatically entered into a competition for a chance to win another stay in the area.

The prize has been put together with member businesses to create an adventure holiday of a lifetime for one lucky winner. Staying at Sunnyside Croft Camp Site in the beautiful village of Arisaig, surrounded by stunning coastline and some of the most spectacular views in the world, an archery lesson with Arisaig Archery and a beautiful meal at The West Highland Hotel in Mallaig!

Chris O’Brien, Lochaber’s Destination Manager, said: “Nevis Range, a key member of The Outdoor Capital of the UK, operates Britain’s only mountain gondola system which opened in 1989. It attracts over 180 thousand visitors annually and, has this year, been named as one of the top tourist attractions in The Highlands. We see this as the perfect platform to expose our brand to such a large audience and get them sharing their #myoutdoorcapital images!”

The Outdoor Capital’s Nevis Range branded gondola is one of 74 gondolas that transport visitors from the Base Station at 91m (300ft) to the Top Station at 650m (2150ft) on Aonach Mor, beside Ben Nevis, all year round.  The gondolas run every day (weather permitting), rotating on a continuous cycle. The journey takes just under 15 minutes and is suitable for all age groups and most wheelchair users.

The Outdoor Capital of the UK branded gondola follows in the footsteps of friends at No Fuss Events, the team behind a progressive calendar of mountain bike and outdoor adventure events across Scotland, who were the very first company to wrap a gondola back in February 2017.

The digital content will inspire target audiences to plan their adventure in the Outdoor Capital, incentivizing them to find out more. The content will also showcase tailored experiences to help visitors make that all important decision to visit.

During the campaign visitors will have a monthly opportunity to win a unique experience in the area by sharing their own experiences online suing the hashtag #myoutdoorcapital.

The Outdoor Capital of the UK is Lochaber Chamber of Commerce’s tourism brand, promoting adventure for all! The Chamber publicises, sponsors and promotes Fort William and Lochaber as the best place in the UK for everyone to experience the outdoors; with a view to developing local jobs and wealth and encouraging sustainable economic growth.

This is done through a range of collaborative marketing initiatives and activities. The organisation currently has a wide range of member businesses ranging from accommodation, food and drink and activity providers to non-tourism focused businesses who support the aims of the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce and acknowledge that tourism is crucial to the local economy. Many of these businesses are SMEs and by pulling resources and working as a team the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce achieves the positive results that individually the members couldn’t otherwise reach.

The Chamber produces official event programmes and guides which showcase all there is to see and do in Fort William and Lochaber. The Outdoor Capital of the UK website is also the go to site for local events, outdoor activities and visitor accommodation in the area. https://www.outdoorcapital.co.uk/
