Gilded Balloon offers top class comedy lineup for Drygate Brewery

Janey Godley, Will Duggan and Jamie Dalgleish with compere, Scott Agnew – Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate – Friday 5 May 2017

Manchester born Will Duggan, known for his witty, sharp-tongued and energetic comedy, together with Scotland’s newest and hottest comedy talent from the East End of Glasgow, Jamie Dalgleish, will join headliner Janey Godley, ‘the most outspoken female stand-up in Britain’ for Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate on Friday 5 May. Scott Agnew, master storyteller and one of Scotland’s top entertainers will compere the mirth-fuelled evening, keeping both comedians and audience in check.

With a humanity that lifts his lightly cynical observations, Will Duggan performs sharp-tongued, honest comedy delivered with an arsenal of fine-tuned vocabulary. He takes his audience on a laugh-filled journey covering a diverse range of topics and grubby little opinions. Not only is he is creative with the things that raise his ire – doctors, a selection of waterfowl, the arrogance of horses, and his dad’s wind-ups; he also focuses on finding the joy in moments.

Jamie Dalgleish, a natural born story teller oozing with Glasgow charm, is a comedian steeped in the more colourful parts of the city of his upbringing. He brings cheek and charm to accounts of entrepreneurial ingenuity in Glasgow’s East End and many of his routines revolve around closeted, culturally impoverished aspects of Glaswegian life meeting the wider, more cosmopolitan world – from International Politics to fake Lacoste Trackies! As the self confessed drunken philosopher plays with class stereotypes has a wry eye for cultural absurdity and invariably makes himself the butt of the joke.

In her comedy treasure chest Janey Godley has an unstoppable tsunami of outrageous stories and home truths, so extreme they are barely believable – sex, politics, poverty, abuse and meeting the great and good. She can pick and choose from a bottomless well of barbed tales according to whim and where the audience inspire her.

The master story teller, Scott Agnew, one of Scotland’s top compere’s will be taking charge of proceedings at The Drygate Brewery. With his searing honesty and addictive personality, this 6’5″ comic mixes tales of night life, gay life and general misadventure to charm his audiences and transport them into his world – which is far from run of the mill by anyone’s standard. He is laugh-out-loud funny from beginning to end.

Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate brings together the very best craft beer, fearless food for the soul and strong intelligent comedy with a quality blend of up and coming comedians and the finest established comics in an intimate comedy club. Audiences can also enjoy the popular dinner and comedy packages that have the craft beer kitchen and bar – The Vintage at Drygate – take on the role of front of house hosts.
